Axiom vs Photon: fees, features and fit

Short answer

Axiom and Photon both list a 1% fee per trade. Photon's docs show 1% on each buy and sell with no published tiers; Axiom returns part of its 1% as SOL cashback, for a net 0.95% to 0.75%, plus a 10% referral discount. Photon is the original Solana web terminal; Axiom adds more chains, perpetuals, trackers, predictions and yield.

Axiom vs Photon comes down to scope and net cost. Both are web-based trading terminals and both publish a 1% fee. Photon, by our research notes, is the original Solana web terminal. Axiom started on Solana in early 2025 and has since added more chains, perpetuals, trackers, prediction markets and a yield page.

This comparison uses only what each platform's own docs state, plus a few press and data sources named where they appear. We researched Axiom in far more depth than Photon, and we earn a referral commission from Axiom. So where we have no Photon data, the page says "not covered in our research" and leaves it there.

Axiom vs Photon at a glance

The fee rows come from each platform's official documentation, checked on 17 September 2026. A "not covered" cell means we did not verify that item for Photon. It does not mean Photon lacks it.

How do Axiom and Photon fees compare?

The headline fee is identical at 1%, and Axiom's net fee is lower because of cashback. Photon's docs list 1% on each buy and each sell and publish no volume tiers. Some third-party pages quote 0.9% for Photon; that figure does not appear in Photon's own fee documentation, so we do not use it.

Axiom's docs describe a 1% fee with SOL cashback in seven tiers. Each step is worth 5% of Axiom's fee:

  • Wood, the entry tier: 0.95% net
  • Bronze 0.90%, Silver 0.875%, Gold 0.85%
  • Platinum 0.825%, Diamond 0.80%, Champion 0.75%

Axiom does not publish the trading volume needed to reach each tier, so a new user should plan on 0.95%. On a $1,000 trade, a round figure used only for the arithmetic, that is $9.50 on Axiom's entry tier against $10 on Photon's published rate. The gap is real and small.

Axiom's docs also give referred users a 10% discount on trading fees. They do not state how long it lasts or how it combines with cashback. Network costs apply on both platforms; on Axiom the Solana defaults are 0.001 SOL for the priority fee and 0.001 SOL for the bribe. Our Axiom fees page has the full table, and the referral code guide covers the discount.

Where might Photon suit you better?

Photon may suit you better if you want a terminal that does one thing. It is the original Solana web terminal, and a product with a narrower scope gives you fewer menus to learn and fewer features you never use. That is a judgment about fit, not a measured result, and you should test it against your own habits.

Familiarity counts too. If you have traded on Photon for a long time and your routine works, a fee difference of roughly 0.05 percentage points at Axiom's entry tier is a thin reason to rebuild your setup.

There is also Axiom's record to weigh. In February 2026, investigator ZachXBT alleged that an Axiom employee used internal support tools to look up users' wallets. Axiom said it removed access to those tools and would investigate; we found no published outcome. Whether Photon has had comparable incidents is not covered in our research, so this is a point about Axiom and not a point in Photon's favor. The details are in our Axiom Trade review.

Where does Axiom do more?

Axiom documents a wider product than a Solana spot terminal. If any of the following matter to you, they are the practical case for it.

  • More chains. The live app's chain selector lists Solana, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Base, Robinhood Chain, Ink and Arc as of September 2026. Fee levels on the newest chains are not documented.
  • Perpetuals. Hyperliquid-powered perps with up to 50x leverage and USDC margin. Axiom's docs state a 0.01% fee per transaction on top of Hyperliquid's fees. See how Axiom perps work.
  • Trackers. A wallet tracker for up to 500 wallets and a social tracker covering X and Truth Social, described on our Axiom tools page.
  • Token discovery. Pulse shows new tokens in New Pairs, Final Stretch and Migrated columns, with filters for top-10 holders, developer share, snipers, insiders, bundles and liquidity.
  • Predictions and yield. A Predictions tab launched in June 2026, and a Yield page exists, although the homepage and docs describe the yield product differently.

More features also mean more ways to lose money. Leverage in particular magnifies losses as quickly as gains.

Choose Photon or choose Axiom?

Choose Axiom if

  • You want a published path to a net fee below 1%, starting at 0.95%.
  • You trade, or plan to trade, on chains other than Solana.
  • You want perps, wallet tracking and spot trading in one account.
  • You are starting fresh and have no existing setup to give up.

Choose Photon if

  • You trade Solana spot only and prefer a single-purpose terminal.
  • You already know Photon well and the small fee gap does not justify relearning.
  • You would rather not add perps and prediction markets to the screen you trade from.

What safety points apply to both?

The main risks sit outside either platform's fee table. Both are web terminals, so the login page is the attack surface. Reported Axiom losses include look-alike domains, a fake mobile app and browser extensions that stole logged-in sessions, as documented by Socket in September 2026. Bookmark the official address of whichever terminal you use and install no third-party add-ons for it.

On Axiom specifically: the wallet is non-custodial, Axiom cannot recover a lost seed phrase, we found no public security audit, and the Terms cap liability at $100. The same questions are worth asking of Photon; the answers are not covered in our research. And on any terminal, most new tokens end up worthless, whatever the fee was.

Questions people ask

Is Axiom better than Photon?

It depends on what you need. Axiom documents more products (several chains, Hyperliquid perpetuals, wallet and social trackers, predictions, yield) and a lower net fee through cashback. Photon is the original Solana web terminal and may suit someone who wants one chain and one job. Neither changes the fact that most memecoins go to zero.

Are Photon fees lower than Axiom fees?

Not on published numbers. Photon's docs list 1% per buy and sell with no published tiers. Axiom lists 1% gross with SOL cashback that brings the net fee to 0.95% at the entry tier and 0.75% at the top tier. Claims of a 0.9% Photon fee come from third-party sites, not Photon's docs.

Can you use both Axiom and Photon?

Yes. Both are web terminals, and nothing in our research prevents holding accounts on each. Keep a separate wallet and a separate seed phrase backup for each platform, and only log in on each platform's official domain. For Axiom that is axiom.trade.

Is Axiom a good Photon Sol alternative?

For Solana spot trading from a web terminal, Axiom offers a live board of new tokens, one-click buys, limit orders and a migration sniper, and it adds other chains and perpetuals. We did not test Photon feature by feature, so compare the two on the tools you actually use. Our Axiom tutorial shows the setup from signup to a first trade.

Does Photon have cashback or referral discounts like Axiom?

Photon's fee page lists a flat 1% and no tiers. Whether Photon runs a referral discount is not covered in our research; the 0.9% figures that circulate are third-party claims. Axiom's docs state a 10% fee discount for referred users and cashback of 5% to 25% of its fee by tier.
